"Feline enrichment" is the new buzzword in the cat world. All the hype has gotten designers and even interior designers chasing their tails to get our cats out of the snooze mode and enrich their lives with interactive toys, gadgets and furniture designed to keep them physically fit and mentally challenged.
Companies are now making a myriad of interactive cat toys. Worldwise, Inc. has gone as far as to design a CompleteNeeds® System for cats with products to enhance what it considers to be the 12 basic needs that enrich a cat's life, including scratching, interation, stimulation, hunting, privacy and of course, resting.
Personally I suspect this new interest is being fueled by the growing feline obesity problem than is an unfortunate result of an indoor lifestyle. Again, Worldwise responds with the "SmartyKat Loco!Motion automated activity toy."
Loco!Motion can be programmed to "play" with your cat while you're out.
