- Why do I need a pet bed?
It is important that you give your pet its own special place to rest and/or sleep. This will increase your pet's enjoyment and will help keep your pet off your home furnishings!
- What is the PoochPlanet™ bed filled with?
The filling is a special combination of a Worldwise exclusive fiberfill blend called EcoRest™. This lofty filling is made from recycled plastic bottles. Reclaimed cedar shavings are also added.
- Why are cedar shavings included in the filling?
The first benefit of including cedar shavings is the wonderful aromatic smell that helps reduce pet odors. In addition, cedar contains an essential oil called camphor oil, which helps protect the trees from insects. This oil is also in the cedar shavings and reduces the risk of fleas and ticks laying eggs in your pet's bed.
- Are trees cut down to make the shavings?
No additional trees are cut down to make the shavings for our PoochPlanet™ Pet Beds. We use only reclaimed cedar mill surplus for our shavings.
- Is the cover machine washable?
Yes. To help ensure the longevity of your pet bed, machine wash cover separately in cold water on gentle cycle with mild soap; line dry. Do not wring, bleach or dry clean. Do not wash inner liner or fiberfill insert. Use a cool iron if desired.
- Will the bed stain the floor?
No, the bed will not stain the floor provided that it does not get wet. In the event your dog urinates on the bed, the acidic urine may combine with the dyes and stain the floor under it. If your pet has a urination problem, we recommend that you get two puppy trainer pads, one for inside the cover on top of the liner and the other, preferably a larger one, for under the bed itself to protect the floor. This way, if your pet wets the bed you can remove the cover and wash it while also protecting the floor underneath.
- What will happen if the bed gets wet from the rain?
Take the cover off the bed and let it air dry. In addition, place the liner in a dry place and within a couple of days it should dry with no damage to the bed. You may want to add some new cedar shavings to the bed after it gets wet to recharge the effects of the cedar.
